Volta Restaurant
The heart and soul of Borneta, our lively restaurant and bar in El Born brings people together underneath the iconic Porxos de Fontseré arches. Fittingly, Volta takes its name from the word for an architectural curve. Its second meaning comes from the Catalonian word ‘voltar’, meaning to go or walk around – a concept that also inspires our cuisine.
Following a recent culinary journey of discovery along the Mediterranean coastline, chef Andrea de Benedictis has curated a creative menu inspired by the vivid flavours he encountered along the way, from Spain and Italy to France and North Africa. Cooked over the flames in our beautiful open kitchen, simple yet delicious dishes are made using the very best local ingredients. In the famous Mediterranean spirit of generosity, each dish is also designed to be shared.
At Volta, we are proud to partner with Catalonia’s thriving community of small-scale organic farmers, cheese makers, and wine producers, who have a passion for crafting outstanding ingredients using sustainable, time-honoured methods. Look out for our weekend farmers’ markets launching soon, where we aim to unite the local community to enjoy the freshest Spanish fare.
Volta Bar
Attached to the restaurant is Volta Bar, a lively space to get together over pre- or post-meal drinks. Our welcoming and intimate bar is designed with natural materials, warm Barcelona colours, and living greenery to create a relaxing retreat. The beautiful skylight ushers in sunlight by day and is illuminated by stars after dark. Catch up with friends over a glass of natural Spanish wine or take a seat at the bar to watch our mixologists hand-craft cocktails. As with Volta’s cuisine, the drinks menu takes its cues from the myriad of flavours to be found along the Mediterranean coast.
